AVG users must update to AVG 8 to receive updates

In my last post I had written that I was using AVG on my laptop. Grisoft recently released AVG 8 and has asked that all existing users update to their latest version (from v7.5 to v8).

The last date to update to AVG 8 is May 30. Grisoft announced that v7.5 users will not receive further updates.

If you are an existing user of AVG 7.5, click here or on the image below to download AVG 8. Without new virus definitions the antivirus is pretty useless, hence I recommend updating your software if you use AVG.

I am using AVG free 7.5 (after uninstalling AVG8, which was awful) and it still updates, even today - 23 July 2008. AVG say that the old version won’t be supported, but I have a funny feeling that the av updates for AVG8 work on both versions! Are they trying to hoodwink us? Surely not?
